The battle for Fallujah in November, 2004, was the most intense urban engagement fought by the United States since World War II. It is a story now told by a reporter who was embedded with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, Lima Company 1st Platoon. At the end of the battle, only 14 of the Lima Company's 1st Platoon's 49 Marines were left standing.
