Sax-Star Bill Evans who recorded with Miles Davis and Mick Jagger features Max Mutzke Till Bronner Nils Landgren Bela Fleck Victor Wooten and Jerry Douglas on "Who I Am".
The 66-year-old saxophonist Bill Evans is undoubtedly one of the busiest and multifaceted musicians of his generation. He was a pivotal member of Miles Davis' infamous comeback band in 1980 when Evans was in his early 20s as well as with Herbie Hancock Willie Nelson Mick Jagger the WDR Big Band or the Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin to name a few. His bands "Push" "Big Fun" and most recently "Soulgrass" all defied categories and received critical acclaim worldwide (including 2 grammy nods along the way). This enormous range is presented on his new album "Who I Am" by the man from Illinois who now lives in Nashville. The guests on this all-star production already indicate the vast range of the production : German "Masked Singer" winner Max Mutzke sings on two tracks Till Bronner can be heard on trumpet dobro virtuoso Jerry Douglas is there as well as banjo jazz-legend Bela Fleck. John Medeski - without Martin and Wood - and Simon Oslender can be heard on the organ Victor Wooten and Claus Fischer play the bass Keith Carlock and Wolfgang Haffner play drums and Swedish funk-unit-master Nils Landgren can be heard on trombone.
