1984 年、ウィリー・ネルソンは人気の絶頂期にあった。過去 10 年間で 16 曲のカントリー・ ナンバー 1ヒットを記録し、ポップ・チャートにも何度も登場。
一連のヒット映画に出演し、当時最も有名なアーティストの 1 人となった。彼はジャンルや世代を超えてファンを結びつけ、彼のライブショーは伝説的なものとなった。同年2月には初の来日公演となる5大都市ツアーを行い、ツアーの初日は日本武道館で行われた。2月23日の武道館のショーは放送用に録音および撮影され、日本ではレーザーディスクとしてのみリリースされたが、音源としては一切発売されなかった。今回、約40年の時を経てこのライブショーが待望の再発売となる。音源は、ウィリーの長年のバンドメンバーであるミッキー ・ラファエルによって愛情を込めてリミックスされており、2 枚組 CD に 29 曲を収録。また、新しいオーディオ ミックスと高解像度に復元された映像を含む 27 曲入りの DVD も付属。アルバムには「Whiskey River」「Always On My Mind」「On the Road Again」「Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys」といった彼の代表曲に加え、「Me and Bobby McGee」「Georgia On My Mind」「Stardust」などのすばらしいカバー曲も収録されている。
