More than fifty percent of the plants described in the book occur only in the Blue Mountain Forests of Jamaica and nowhere else in the world.The Blue Mountain Forests are currently threatened by agricultural activities, particularly on the southern slopes, and many of the unique species described in the book are threatened with extinction.
